Mid-August and I'm already dreaming of fall foliage, pumpkins and school starting...
SCHOOL STARTING?!? Yikes! That went fast!
Actually, fall is normally my favorite season. I love the cooler weather, being comfy in a sweatshirt and jeans as I crunch through the oranges, reds and golds of changing leaves -- plus pumpkin pie and other comfort foods are okay to eat again.
Besides that, though, I'm excited about a few other things:
1. The NJ Writer's Conference on September 12-13 -- this conference will be held at the Clarion in Egg Harbor Township and our very own Eva Feeley will be a speaker! It's also on a weekend, which I think is great because every other doggone writing conference is during the week...
2. NaNoWriMo starts in November -- for those hardy (loony) souls who take on the challenge of writing a 50,000 word novel in 1 month, I'd love to hear from you as I plan on participating this year as a first-time entrant and I think a support group of other dedicated (insane) participants would be helpful.
3. We have a wonderful group of writers who work together to support each others' work, and that is something to be truly thankful for, regardless of the season.
My personal thanks to everyone for your feedback and support! You have all inspired me and I plan on kicking my writing up a notch or three this season because of it.
That's all, more later.

Here we go again -- it's getting late, I just finished the dishes, the kids are bathed, I'm putzing around with the website, answering emails, grading a few tests (summer school rocks!), waiting for the next load of laundry to dry, and I realize that I'm exhausted.
When the heck am I going to find the time to write?!?
I normally have to stay up quite late to get the stuff done that I want, so I average 4-5 hours of sleep per night, except for those rare evenings I crash out at 9 pm and wake up feeling hungover at 6 am. But those are rare...
How do other people do it? Any suggestions?
Be warned -- I understand the value of time management, but with small children, the best laid plans go awry very quickly.
Please post any comments you might have on this topic -- I'm very interested in hearing about any suggestions, comments, ideas, theories, motions on the floor, etc.

Greetings fellow writers!
Ken and Mary and I had some good discussion regarding what we see as a potential website for our group -- a strong, vibrant, unique, robust and accessible interactive tool to help all our colleagues and to make the world a bright, sparkling place.
This is NOT it, but it's a start.
Some of the main concepts that we discussed deal with using a Jersey Cape Writers website for:
a) marketing and publicity for our group, especially if we plan to expand our active ranks now or in the future;
b) information dissemination, where we can use our website as a clearinghouse for important news and links to help our members and the public in general; and
c) direct interaction between members, where members can use the website to contact other members via forums, blogs, etc., or to post works in progress for other members to comment upon, etc.
We thought of setting up a members directory where members can post biographies of themselves, include samples of work, acceptable methods of contact, etc.
Any comments, questions or suggestions, please post'em or email one of us -- your feedback is essential to make our final product truly useful.
Looking forward to hearing back from you,
